“Shaking hands spreads more bacteria than kissing”
One of the most common ways for germs to spread is via our hands, as the germs end up on everything we touch. We all carry millions of germs on our hands, the most used part of our body. The majority are harmless but you can pick up some germs that cause illnesses such as colds, flu and diarrhoea or even more dangerous conditions such as MRSA and E-Coli.
- Always wash hands under warm running water
- Apply anti-bacterial hand wash or soap
- Rub hands together for 15-30 seconds, paying particular attention to fingertips, thumbs and between the fingers
- Rinse well under running water and dry thoroughly using a clean dry towel
